 | Michael Landi began drawing at the age of twelve from a children's book called Children of the Sea. He began painting at fourteen under the tutelage of poet and painter Frank Evans. As a young man he did three years in the navy; and upon return, began his studies at The Art Students League in New York, where he studied with Frank J. Reilly and Robert Beverly Hale. He lived briefly in Texas, where he began a series of abandoned barns, and also lived for three years in Rome, studying with Cesare Orsini. He presently lives year-round in East Hampton, New York where most of his work is of landscapes from the East End. |
